In the kingdom of Solomon عليه السلام, the Ifrit was a powerful and rebellious Jinn who was subjugated to his service by the command of Allah. This term is used metaphorically for humans, just as Satan is used for them. Ibn Qutaybah رحمه الله said: It comes from their saying: a man is 'ifrit,' meaning one who is strong and well-built.
